Privacy policy
This policy explains what Function Battle ("the game") processes, why, and the choices you have. The game is provided by Reynolds Studio, Ireland, which is the data controller. Questions and requests: ReynoldsStudioGames@gmail.com.
What the game processes
Guest play. You can play without signing up. The game creates a guest account automatically so your rewards and cosmetics have somewhere to live. It holds a random account identifier, your display name, your cosmetic choices, your Sparks balance and your match results. No email is needed.
Optional account. If you add an email and password, our account provider (Supabase) processes your email address and sign-in data so you can recover the account and use it on another device. The game never stores your password on the device.
Online play. The game server processes room settings, team membership, the functions you fire, verified match outcomes, chat messages and quick reactions. A room keeps its most recent 30 chat messages until the room closes. Connection information such as your IP address is used for the life of the connection, and the server's access logs (which include IP addresses) are kept in small rotating files for security and abuse prevention. The game server is backed up daily and each backup is kept for up to 14 days.
Reports and moderation. When a player is reported, the server keeps limited match evidence and recent messages from the reported player so a reviewer can look into it. The reporter's identity is never shown to the reported player. Open reports are kept for up to 180 days, resolved reports for up to 90 days and dismissed reports for up to 30 days, unless a longer period is needed for safety, an appeal or a legal duty.
On your device. Settings, your local profile and optional replays are stored on the device. Replays never include free-text chat. You can switch replay recording off and delete replays in the game.
Age. The game asks your age once to choose the right advertising treatment and child-safety settings. The exact age is never saved or sent. Only an "under 13", "13 to 15" or "16 and over" bracket is stored on the device.
Advertising
In the phone apps, ads are voluntary rewarded videos only. There are no banners and no ads that interrupt play. Ads are served by Google AdMob. When you choose to watch one, Google may process device and advertising information under Google's privacy policy. If no age was given, or the answer was under 16, the game requests child-directed, non-personalised ads rated for general audiences. The game passes your account identifier and the chosen reward to Google so our server can verify the reward. Where the law requires consent, Google's consent form is shown, and you can reopen it from Settings → Privacy, Age & Support.
Purchases
Optional cosmetic purchases are handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never receive your card details. The game sends the store's signed transaction, the product and your account identifier to our verification service so the item can be delivered and restored later. On Google Play a one-way hash of your account identifier is attached to the purchase so it can only be delivered to your account. If Apple or Google refunds a purchase, the items or Sparks it delivered are removed (Sparks never go below zero), and repeated refunds can block further purchases.
Browser version
When you play in a web browser, your settings, progress and a random key for your guest account are kept in that browser's storage on your device; clearing the browser's site data removes them. The browser version sells nothing. On game websites such as Poki or CrazyGames it also has no email accounts and no typed chat (quick reactions only), and any ads there are shown by that website under its own privacy policy, not by Google AdMob.
Why we process it
To provide the game and the online service you ask for (contract); to keep play safe and fair, prevent abuse and secure the service (legitimate interests); to meet legal duties; and, where required, with your consent (for example personalised advertising).
Who helps us run it
Supabase (accounts and cloud data, stored in Frankfurt, Germany), Hetzner Online (the game server, in Germany), Brevo (account emails), Netlify (this website), Google AdMob (rewarded ads), and Apple and Google (purchases). Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area under safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We do not sell personal data.
Your choices and rights
In the game you can mute, block and report players, appeal a moderation decision, download a copy of your main account data (write to us for a complete copy; we answer within one month), sign out, and permanently delete your account (see Delete your account). Under the GDPR you also have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to complain to your data protection authority (in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission). Write to ReynoldsStudioGames@gmail.com.
Children
The game is suitable for a general audience. Players under 16 receive child-directed advertising treatment as described above. Players who say they are under 13 play as guests: the game does not let them create an email account, send typed chat messages or open our Discord link, so it collects no email address or free text from them. If you believe a child has given us an email address without a parent's permission, write to us and we will remove the account.
Changes
We will update this page when the policy changes and change the date at the top.
